Rachel Sweasey is a historical fiction novelist. She lives in Australia, but bases her fiction in Poole, Dorset, where she grew up. Beautiful Poole is a wonderful backdrop for her stories, with its depth of character and rich history. Rachel is inspired by the writing of Kate Morton, and her first three historical fiction novels are dual timeline stories set in World War Two. These books include THE LAST BOAT HOME, THE ISLAND GIRLS, and THE GIRL FROM NORMANDY. Rachel has been working on a new Saga Series, THE LIFEBOAT GIRLS, is also set in Poole but is set during the First World War period. Book One in this series released in May 2026. The story includes connections with the Titanic and the tragedy of its loss as well as the onset of The Great War, following the lives, loves, and losses of four young local girls. Book Two in this saga series - The Lifeboat Girls at War - is due out in January 2027.
