Rachel Murdock is the driving force behind the Self-Reliance Essentials brand and book series, which is dedicated to non-fiction literature in the areas of survival, emergency preparedness, disaster readiness, and homesteading. An avid enthusiast of emergency preparedness for over 20 years, Rachel is continually learning and discovering new ways to become more self-reliant. While she humbly admits she doesn’t know it all, her passion lies in sharing the valuable insights and knowledge she gains along the way. Rachel and her family lived in the Hawaiian Islands for many years, where they owned and operated various businesses focused on real estate, property management, and professional services. After nearly a decade in Hawaii, the Murdocks sought a change of scenery and relocated to a rural area in the North Idaho panhandle. There, Rachel continues her journey in emergency preparedness and homesteading, raising chickens, maintaining a fruitful garden, and working with her family to care for the acreage on their riverfront property. With a background as a technical writer, Rachel brings a clear and concise approach to her work, making complex concepts more accessible to her readers. She is currently completing her BA degree with an emphasis in accounting and finance. Rachel and her husband also own and operate a successful local RV park and glamping campground, where they welcome guests from around the world. As a mother of three children, including two who have reached adulthood, she treasures spending time with her family. Rachel loves to travel and is usually in the process of planning her next adventure, often trying to convince her family to join her. Rachel's books are a testament to her commitment to helping people become more self-sufficient. Her goal is to make emergency preparedness accessible and manageable for everyone, regardless of their background or experience level.
