R.S. Curtis writes fantasy about ordinary people forced into extraordinary situations, and the systems, cities, and consequences that shape them in return. He is the author of The Disputed Lands series, a Discworld-adjacent world of bureaucratic absurdity, found families, and cosmic strangeness lurking just past the streetlamps. The Borrower, a standalone novella following one baker's attempt to return a very overdue library book, is out now, with the series opener, Overdue, launching soon.

He also writes historical non-fiction under the same name, exploring ambition, ingenuity, and the fragile balance between progress and consequence. He is the author of two published historical non-fiction books, with a third currently in progress, drawing readers into the true stories behind history's most driven figures.

R.S. lives in the Pacific Northwest, in the long shadow of Mount St. Helens, a landscape marked by both quiet beauty and sudden upheaval. That contrast runs through everything he writes, whether the subject is a real historical figure or a baker who just wants to do the right thing.
