Dr. Punita Rice is the author of The River's Daughter, a feminist reimagining of the Punjabi legend of Mirza Sahiba and an Amazon #1 Bestseller in Folklore, and in Asian Myth & Legend. Its standalone prequel, The River Goddess, is a gods and mortals myth of tragedy, defiance, and the origin of the river's power.

Punita is a former teacher and education researcher, the author of Brown Voices: South Asian American Experiences in Schools, and the creator of the Brown Voices Project. She holds a doctorate from Johns Hopkins University and her work has appeared in the Berkeley Review of Education, Education Week, The Baltimore Sun, and other publications.

Punita lives in the US her husband, their boys, and their dog.
