Dr. Punita Rice is the author of The River's Daughter, a feminist reimagining of the Punjabi legend of Mirza Sahiba and an Amazon #1 Bestseller in Asian Myth & Legend. Its standalone prequel, The River Goddess, is a gods and mortals myth of tragedy, defiance, and the origin of the river's power. Punita is a former teacher and education researcher. She holds a doctorate from Johns Hopkins University and is the author of South Asian American Experiences in Schools (Rowman & Littlefield, 2019; rereleasing in 2026 as Brown Voices). Her work has appeared in Berkeley Review of Education, Education Week, The Baltimore Sun, and other publications. She also helps authors self-publish through Bookwell Studio. Punita lives in Maryland with her husband, their kids, and their dog, and spends her free time daydreaming about rivers, rebellion, and love stories from the past.
