A Philadelphia native, Dr. Phil Eyster trusted Christ in 1963 at the age of six, and then, gave his life to full-time ministry at Urbana '76. He immediately began to preach the Gospel wherever opportunities presented themselves. In college, he preached in churches around New England every weekend. In seminary, he preached almost daily at the Portland (Oregon) Rescue Mission. After seminary, he worked with Here's Life Inner City in New York, and then with Global Field Evangelism (Memphis, TN), where he began his international work. Phil founded Eagle Projects International in 1989 with a very special ministry plan - use open-air field evangelism to help national pastors plant churches in areas with little or no exposure to the Gospel. Today, EPI's ministry has expanded to dozens of countries around the world. Phil has preached in over 30 nations using various methods of field evangelism and mercy ministry to plant new churches. Phil received his bachelor's degree from Gordon College in Wenham, Mass., graduating magna cum laude in 1981. He has a Masters of Divinity degree from Western Seminary in Portland, Oregon (1984), and his Doctor of Ministry degree from Mid-America Theological Seminary in Germantown, Tennessee (1993). Phil has also studied at Villanova University, Penn State, and Westminster Seminary, Philadelphia. Phil and his wife, Marcia, have been married since 1981 and have seven children, including two adopted daughters from China. All of them have been homeschooled; the four oldest have graduated college and are working in various fields. When not on a project, Phil and Marcia split their time between Maine and Prince Edward Island, Canada.
