Peter Policastro is a scientist, inventor, entrepreneur, and author whose career has been spent turning possibilities into realities. He earned his Ph.D. in chemistry from MIT, where his interdisciplinary research began a career spanning scientific discovery, biotechnology, invention, entrepreneurship, and academia.

Writing, however, began much earlier. Policastro has written poetry and prose since childhood and participated in creative-writing communities around Duke and Rutgers Universities in the 1970s. In 1977, he was accepted into Boston University's MFA program in creative writing. He left after less than a semester, concluding that he had not yet lived enough to call himself a writer.

Nearly five decades later, his debut novel, The Moon Detente, brings those two paths together. Policastro writes speculative fiction with a scientist's fascination for what may be possible, an inventor's understanding of how ideas become realities, and a lifelong interest in what happens to people when technology, power, loyalty, and human desire collide.
