Paula Axelrod earned a bachelor’s degree GWU. She later discovered a gift for watercolor painting at the Art Students League. Through many years of psychoanalytic therapy, she recovered from depression, suicidal thoughts, and a compulsive eating disorder, and she learned to love and care for herself. She has been happily married for forty years, and she and her husband adopted and raised a son from Romania. She wrote this memoir in the hope of helping others who are struggling to find therapy, healing, and self-love.
