Paul Maher Jr. is an author, editor, book critic, and photographer. He is best known for his works about 20th-century American writer, Jack Kerouac. In addition to Kerouac, he has also published numerous books on notable figures like film director Terrence Malick, musicians Tom Waits, Willie Nelson, and Miles Davis. He has also worked at retrieiving obscure and unpublished manuscripts from the likes of Henry David Thoreau and poet Maxwell Bodenheim. He is the author of Kerouac: His Life and Work (Rowman & Littlefield, 2004); Becoming Kerouac: A Writer In His Time (Lyons Press, 2024); and editor of numerous books including his latest, Willie Nelson on Willie Nelson: Interviews & Encounters (Chicago Review Press, 2025). Maher resides in Lubec, Maine with his wife Caitlin. He is the father of Chloe and Rachel Maher.
