Olan Prentice was born and raised in the deep South, where work began before dawn and ended after sunset—always paired with hard play. A voracious reader from an early age, he devoured books by the armful, often consuming two or three genres at once. Summers unfolded across Georgia’s lakes, rivers, and forests, with the occasional foray into the lush bayous of Louisiana. Driven by a desire to see the places he read about, he joined the Navy to explore the world. Years of service carried him through exotic ports, a Pacific typhoon, and the chaos of California’s earthquakes before returning to the relative calm of his hometown. There, he thrived in the dotcom boom, emerging as a leading technologist and earning five patents in cloud computing while helping shape the future of emerging tech. His lifelong love of reading, military experience, and global adventures eventually led him to writing. His debut book, Get Out and Thrive!, is a heartfelt guide to help fellow Veterans navigate the transition to civilian life. Today, Olan lives in the same Southern paradise where his journey began. He spends his time writing, hiking, and enjoying life with his wife, daughter, and their two dogs—Hazel, a brilliant Australian Shepherd, and Redford, a mischievously fearless Shih Tzu.
