Oeset Drakir: A Bridge Between Eastern Wisdom and Modern Life

Oeset Drakir has dedicated over 45 years to the study of martial arts and Far Eastern philosophy. What began at age 15 as physical discipline in Taekwondo, and later led him to Aikido, Jiu-Jitsu, and Tai-Chi, quickly evolved into a profound quest for inner peace and the calming of the mind.

Through decades of studying classical texts—such as Shunryu Suzuki’s "Zen Mind, Beginner’s Mind," Sun Tzu’s "The Art of War," and even Western psychoanalysis—Drakir recognized a fundamental issue: for the Western mind, conditioned toward achievement and dualism, Zen teachings often appear encrypted or paradoxical.

His mission is to make these "obvious truths" accessible to all. Inspired by the structure of the cult film "The Silent Flute," Drakir creates a literary journey that categorizes ancient Zen fables by core themes. In his work, each story is followed by a reflection showing that our inner selves function the same way today as they did a thousand years ago, regardless of the hectic outside world.

"Zen Wisdom and the Monkey Mind" is the first book in a series aimed at transforming the scattered energy of our thoughts into a source of strength and serenity. Oeset Drakir lives and writes with the conviction that true mastery lies not in defeating others, but in knowing oneself in the here and now.
