Nuchie Schapiro grew up in Crown Heights, Brooklyn—the epicenter of the Chabad-Lubavitch world—shaped by its distinctive atmosphere of learning, chassidishkeit, and community life. He was educated at Oholei Torah, the neighborhood’s flagship institution, and later studied at Yeshivas Tomchei Tmimim / Rabbinical College of America in Morristown, New Jersey, where he earned his B.A. in Judaic Studies and M.A. in Rabbinic Studies (Semicha). He continued his academic pursuits at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), conducted research at the University of Southern California (USC), and began a PhD in clinical psychology at Alliant University. He is the founder and CEO of Centered Health, a behavioral-health company operating throughout Southern California. He is deeply involved in Jewish communal life, organizing shiurim, farbrengens, and lectures. Guided by a sharp eye for detail and a deep sense of responsibility to the past, he is the author of Legacy of Resilience, a work that weaves Jewish history, family story, archival material, and years of research, bringing warmth, clarity, and authenticity to his writing. He enjoys studying Torah, listening to Jewish music—especially Lubavitcher niggunim, MBD, Fried, Rotenberg, MBC, and Shwekey—watching Seinfeld, smoking meats, and never turning down a cup of fresh-ground, boiling-hot coffee. He lives in Los Angeles with his wife, Chavie, and their six children. In 2020, he was named the recipient of the Dr. Chan “Dad of the Year” Award, as well as the 2025 Sarah & Lily Honor for Bedtime Negotiation Leadership, the 2024 Spousal Excellence Merit Award, the 2022 Family Logistics Honor for Multi-Child Management, and the 2023 Award for Best Sholom Aleichem Rendition Under Chaotic Conditions — for the capacity to sing while mediating the children’s weekly battle for the seat next to Mommy.
