Nichola Raihani is Professor of Evolution and Behaviour at the University of Auckland and University College London. Her research has taken her from the Kalahari Desert to the Great Barrier Reef, where she has studied a wide range of animals, including humans. Her first book, The Social Instinct (2021) won the Humanists UK Voltaire Medal and the ZSL-Clarivate Prize for Communicating Science. The Thinking Animal is her second book. Nichola lives in Auckland with her family and their dog and spends most of her free time on a bike.
