Neil Shearing is the Group Chief Economist at Capital Economics, where he leads a world-class team of economists and oversees the firm’s global research agenda. A trusted voice in international finance, Neil is known for his clear, insightful analysis of the global economy - insights that regularly feature in the Financial Times and other major publications, as well as on TV and radio. Before becoming Group Chief Economist, Neil built his reputation as the firm's Chief Emerging Markets Economist, earning multiple awards for forecast accuracy and guiding Capital Economics’ operations in New York. Earlier in his career, he served as an Economic Adviser at HM Treasury, working on fiscal policy and global economics. Neil holds degrees in Economics from the University of York and the University of London. He is also an Associate Fellow in the Global Economy Programme at Chatham House. Whether writing, speaking, or advising, Neil brings clarity and authority to the complexities of the world economy.
