Neil McGinness is a New York Times bestselling author whose work spans narrative nonfiction, fiction, and visual storytelling. He co-wrote "Darkhorse" (HarperCollins, May 2026) which Arnold Schwarzenegger called a war story of “true strength.” McGinness has collaborated with literary powerhouse James Patterson on multiple bestselling series, including "The Shadow" and "The Perfect Assassin." Adept at turning complex histories into compelling narratives, McGinness is also the author of Pulp Power (Abrams, 2022), a critically acclaimed visual history of the origins of superhero culture, featuring a foreword by legendary Batman creator Frank Miller. Pulp Power was reviewed by Publishers Weekly in May 2022 and hailed as, “Enthralling historical analysis.” His work has been adopted into university curricula and has helped shape major pop culture franchises. McGinness brings a cinematic precision and storytelling depth to every project he touches. His latest book, "The Skies We Shared: A Father and Son’s American Journey from Air Combat to Statecraft" will be published in 2027 by The Naval Institute Press, the oldest armed forces press in the United States founded in 1891. In January 2026, McGinness was selected as a visiting scholar and writer at the American Academy in Rome.
