I'm a spiritual coach and writer. My wife, Anne Lamott, and I wrote Good Writing: 36 Ways to Improve Your Sentences, coming out on Penguin/Avery March 17. It's available in presales right now. My latest book is Better Days: Tame Your Inner Critic, from Namaste Publishing (2023). Shapes of Truth, which describes a recent, spectacular discovery about the human soul, was released in 2021. Every once in a while a short story of mine gets published. They've appeared in two Flash in the Attic anthologies that Amazon carries, and The MacGuffin. My literary heroes are all over the place: Faulkner, Henry Miller, Ishmael Reed, Virginia Woolf, Poe, Yeats, Olds, Dostoevsky come to mind. My spiritual heroes likewise: Lao Tzu, T.S. Eliot, Dogen, Jed McKenna, A.H. Almaas, Gurdjieff, Trungpa, Adyashanti, Patanjali, and whoever wrote the Gospels, Mahabharata, and early Buddhist discourses. More at shapesoftruth dot com.
