N.R. Downs is the pen name of writer and TV producer Nick Withers. A producer by day and an avid writer by night — usually tapping away in bed and annoying his wife — he has a deep love of working-class stories told with grit, humour and emotional realism. He is particularly drawn to the texture and tension of twentieth-century history and the ordinary lives shaped by extraordinary events. Secrets on War Street is his debut novel, an epic wartime saga about love, loss and survival on the London home front. Nick resides in South London with his wife and their three children.
