Mona Sloane, Ph.D., is a sociologist and leading scholar of artificial intelligence, technology policy, and the social impacts of digital systems. As an Assistant Professor of Data Science and Media Studies at the University of Virginia and director of Sloane Lab, she studies how AI is reshaping institutions, workplaces, and everyday life. Her book Predicted: How AI Is Restructuring Society draws on years of research into the promises, politics, and consequences of artificial intelligence. Combining rigorous scholarship with accessible storytelling, Sloane examines how AI is changing the ways we work, govern, create, and relate to one another—and what is at stake in the choices being made today.
