Moira Rose Donohue

I began writing for children after my defection from the practice of banking law. Since then, I have had over 35 books published, with more to come. Most of what I write is nonfiction because I love learning about new things--like animals, history and people. I am thrilled to report my most recent release from Sleeping Bear Press: STOMPIN' AT THE SAVOY: How Chick Webb Became King of the Drums, which has received many complimentary reviews. And I am excited to announce two upcoming books: LITTLE KIDS FIRST BIG BOOK OF ROCKS, MINERALS AND SHELLS, with National Geographic (Summer 2021) and TAPPING FEET, a history of tap dancing, with Reycraft Books, (Fall, 2022). Other recent books include TREE FROGS (Life in the Leaves), which received a starred review from Booklist, and THE U.S. CONSTITUTION (Why it Matters to You), both from Scholastic Children's Press. Also released in 2017 was THE INVASION OF NORMANDY with North Star Editions (a Junior Library Guild selection). I'm originally from New York City, spent many years living in Virginia (outside DC) but now live in St. Petersburg, FL. I love hockey, tap dancing, old movies, and dogs. Please visit my website at www.moirarosedonohue.net, Nonfiction: The Truth, and Nothing But..., for more information about my books and my school visits.
