Mohamed Elgayar was born in Egypt and educated in English schools, growing up in a liberal, cosmopolitan environment that fostered an early appreciation for languages, travel, and cross-cultural understanding. He began his professional life in finance, but over time his interests shifted toward deeper intellectual and spiritual inquiry. While living in New York, particularly in the years following September 11, Elgayar was often asked questions about Islam because of his Egyptian background. These encounters made him aware of how distant he had become from his own religious foundations. Seeking clarity rather than inherited assumptions, he turned directly to the primary source of Islamic faith: the Holy Qur’an. What began as personal curiosity evolved into a sustained and transformative journey of reading, reflection, and study. Although not a classical scholar and holding no formal qualifications in Islamic sciences, Elgayar engaged the Qur’an as a native Arabic speaker through long-term contemplation and translation. For him, translation was not an academic exercise but a disciplined method of inquiry, testing meaning, coherence, and moral implications directly rather than relying solely on secondary interpretation. When asked why he chose to translate a text that has already been translated many times, his answer is simple. This work began as a personal search for Certainty (Yaqīn يقين), specifically ʿIlm al-Yaqīn, the knowledge of certainty. His writings from The Path of Certainty (Yaqīn) series, which explores the Qur’anic journey of seeking certainty, from understanding to lived realization through knowledge, self-purification, accountability, and faith expressed in action. These works are offered not as scholarly authority, but as reflective guidance shaped by sincere inquiry, lived experience, and a commitment to intellectual honesty. Allah knows best. — Mohamed K. Elgayar
