I was born and raised in the Russian Far East, right next to Japan. There were four of us, and our father left when I was very young. We were fed by our garden and by my mother’s earnings. From early childhood I was drawn to plants. I loved watching them, take care of them. This fascination defined my choice of profession: I earned a higher education degree as an Agronomist-Scientist. When I was a child, the Soviet Union collapsed, and the country plunged into the chaos of the 1990s for several years. I clearly remember going to the store one day to buy bread for the family — and bread had become six times more expensive overnight. My mother’s income, however, remained exactly the same. No one understood how to go on living. Then crises kept coming every few years. Harsh times demanded professionalism in everything we did. So I had no choice. I had to become a specialist in sales, in training salespeople, in fundraising, and in anti-crisis business analytics. And on top of that, I eventually had to become an international speaker, a consultant — and more. But that is another story. Naturally, I spent thousands of hours on my education to find my footing in this constantly changing world.
