MICHAEL HACKARD is the founder of Hackard Law, a California firm focused on trust litigation and elder financial abuse cases. He has practiced law for fifty years and has represented hundreds of families facing inheritance disputes and financial exploitation. Hackard holds an AV Preeminent rating from Martindale-Hubbell—the highest designation for legal ability and ethics—and has been named to Super Lawyers for trust litigation. He has testified before the U.S. House of Representatives on elder financial abuse and has been interviewed by the Wall Street Journal, C-SPAN, Fox News, and other national media. His YouTube channel on elder law has accumulated more than 6.8 million views, providing education to families navigating trust disputes and financial exploitation. At seventy-six, Hackard is now in the demographic he has spent his career protecting—a perspective that informs both his practice and his writing. Hackard is the author of several books on trust/estate litigation and elder financial abuse, including The Wolf at the Door and Inheritance Heists. He received his J.D. from McGeorge School of Law and has been a member of the California State Bar since 1976. He lives in Sacramento, California.
