Mary has spent her entire career working as a TV Writer and Producer, first in TV news, then in documentary series production. She began her career at WGN-TV in Chicago, where she spent seven years working as a TV Newswriter and Producer. Mary then moved to the CBS-owned WBBM-TV, where she worked for 11 years as a Newswriter and Producer. She wrapped up her news career working for three years as an Executive Producer at CLTV, a cable news station owned by the Chicago Tribune. Mary loved working in TV news, writing the first draft of history, as it is said. But the news business is grueling, with its crushing deadlines and constant pressure to quickly churn out stories. After 20-years in TV News, Mary shifted gears, and joined a TV documentary production company, Towers Productions. There, she supervised, produced, and wrote scripts for numerous series. In 2012 she went freelance, focusing only on scriptwriting, mostly in the true crime genre. Over the course of her news and documentary career, Mary worked on hundreds of hours of programming, along the way, picking up numerous awards, including an Emmy for TV newswriting, and CableFax Awards for outstanding documentary production. In 2025, Mary switched gears again and began focusing in earnest on a project that she’d been periodically working on for several years, putting her recollections about her online dating experiences on paper. It was a long journey before she found the man she would marry, and along the way, Mary learned many, many lessons about how to best approach online dating. She wants to share her stories and what she’s learned with others who are interested in online dating, hoping to give them the confidence and tools to succeed.
