Marsha Wulff is an American investor and strategist who has pioneered African startup investing for the last 25 years. Originally trained as a conventional securities portfolio manager, she co-founded one of Africa’s first seed-stage venture capital firms, driving top-tier returns, innovations, job creation, and over a billion in follow-on funding. Marsha has lived or worked on six continents, and her passion for economic development drives her to champion market-creating innovations. While helping a NYSE-listed company with an African joint venture in 1997, she was inspired by an African leader to attract foreign direct investment to the continent's innovative startups. By collaborating with Africa’s returning diaspora, she’s honed successful deal pipelines, strategies, and networks. After witnessing conventional development funding undermine entrepreneurs in Africa, she wrote this book to show how entrepreneurial strategies work better. Having engaged in Africa’s tech startup ecosystem as it completed self-sustaining cycles of founding, funding, profits, exits, and reinvestments, Marsha encourages investors to add African ingenuity to their portfolios.
