Mark Perretta is a retired English teacher and author whose work explores the profound intersections of family, honor, and sacrifice. A graduate of John Carroll University, Mark spent his career as an educator and coach, instructing a wide range of literature courses and serving as a teacher for incarcerated youth in Canton, Ohio. His deep respect for those who serve led to his debut novel, Song of Cigale, and the moving tribute novella Heaven Above, Earth Below, which honors his former student and the survivors of the USS Indianapolis. In his latest work, The Professor in the Attic, Mark draws upon decades of classroom experience to craft a cinematic journey through 1945 London. By placing a scholar of the classics against the terrifying backdrop of German V2 rocket strikes, he explores the defiant truth that even in our darkest hours, the human voice remains our greatest tool for resilience. Now retired, Mark continues to advocate for the power of the written word. He can be found playing chess, working outdoors, or traveling with his family.
