Mark J. Higgins is a financial historian and investment advisor whose work connects America’s economic past to the present challenges of modern finance. He is the author of the award-winning book, Investing in U.S. Financial History: Understanding the Past to Forecast the Future. The book was licensed by the Museum of American Finance as the foundation for the timeline exhibit at its new location in Boston, Massachusetts. Higgins also serves as a guest curator and editorial board member at the Museum of American Finance. Unlike traditional academic historians, Higgins focuses on using financial history as a practical tool for decision-making. His research examines areas where historical perspective is often overlooked, including monetary policy, private markets, fiscal policy, and the incentives that shape investor behavior. In recognition of this perspective, he was named a “Voice of Influence” by the CFA Institute Research and Policy Center in May 2026. As a speaker, Higgins has addressed audiences at the Bogleheads Conference, CFA Institute Live 2025, and other leading forums, His writing appears regularly in the CFA Institute’s Enterprising Investor, Financial History magazine, and other outlets seeking rigorous, historically grounded insight. Higgins is a CFA Charterholder and CFP® practitioner. His continuing mission is to restore history’s role in finance—reminding investors that foresight begins with memory.
