Marc Bennetts is a foreign correspondent for The Times and The Sunday Times. He spent 25 years in Russia, reporting from its Arctic region to deepest Siberia. He left Moscow three months after the start of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine. He has since made over a dozen reporting trips to wartime Ukraine. He is the author of The Descent:Witnessing Russia's Spiral Into Madness Under Putin (Bloomsbury Continuum), as well as books on the anti-Putin movement and Russian football culture. He has also previously written for The Guardian, Politico, Newsweek, Esquire and others.
