Maggie Doyle is a writer and poet from Northern Ireland. In 2019, she took early retirement after a 30-year career as a radio producer/executive at BBC Northern Ireland. She has an MA in Creative Writing and an MA in Poetry from the Seamus Heaney Centre at Queen’s University in Belfast. Her book “Mountain Notes – A Nature Diary” is a lyrical memoir of her return to live on the family farm in the Dromara Hills in 2020. It was self- published in 2021. She has read at several Irish literary festivals and has provided creative writing/nature writing workshops for various community groups around Northern Ireland. She is currently writing her second book ‘Mountain Notes from Magy’s Farm’ which she intends to publish in Spring 2026. Her poetry has been published in various Irish journals - she was shortlisted for the Seamus Heaney Award for New Writing in 2023, the Bridport Poetry Prize in 2024 and awarded a place on the Freedom to Write project 2024. Maggie is married to the jazz trumpeter Dr Linley Hamilton MBE and they run Magy's Farm, an independent jazz venue hosting performances from Irish and international touring artists.
