Lorrie Cox is a Principal Broker with eXp Realty in Woodburn, Oregon, where she has built her real estate business since 2012 around a simple promise: honest, caring guidance for seniors, widows, and families navigating life's biggest transitions. Known to her clients as "Your Voice in Real Estate," she helps people downsize, relocate, and find their next home during seasons of change, whether that change is retirement, widowhood, or a fresh start.
Lorrie is also a widow, a mother of four adult children, a Nana, and a world traveler. She married John Jay Cox, her first love from childhood, in 1997. John was diagnosed with frontotemporal dementia (FTD) in January 2007, and Lorrie cared for him at home for eight years until his passing on March 2, 2015. That journey became the foundation for her first book, Still Holding Hands: Walking the Frontotemporal Dementia Journey with Faith, Honesty, and Hope, and its companion, The FTD Caregiver's Journal, a practical workbook created to walk alongside other families facing the same diagnosis. A portion of the proceeds from both benefits the Association for Frontotemporal Degeneration (AFTD).
In The Long Way Back to Love, Lorrie returns to that same story, this time as a novel. Inspired by true events and told through the fictionalized Josie and Jay, it follows a love that began in a church basement in childhood, was lost for years to separate lives and separate marriages, and was found again, only to be tested by frontotemporal dementia and refined into something enduring. Written for caregivers, widows, and anyone who believes love can hold through seasons none of us would choose, it carries the same heart as Still Holding Hands, now given room to breathe as a story.
A longtime volunteer with AFTD, including service as its Northwest Regional Coordinator, Lorrie has spent years supporting caregiver families and advocating for FTD awareness and research. She is a Christian and an active member of her community through her church, the Woodburn Chamber of Commerce, and Senior Estates Golf & Country Club.
