Born and raised in the Appalachian mountains spanning Harlan County, KY, & Lee-Wise Counties, VA, Leisha McKnight writes stories forged by the dirt, coal seams, and deep hollers of Southeastern Kentucky. Raised close to grandparents who passed down storytelling like a currency, she learned early that stories are a shield against the dark.

Now writing from the Bluegrass region, Leisha’s work captures authentic family lifelines. Her writing began twenty years ago with a children's book for her daughter, followed by a middle school novel celebrating a three-generation love for Kentucky basketball shared with her dad and daughter.
