Laurie Jankower James believes that the people who change our lives are often the ones who never realize they did. That belief inspired her memoir, About Faces: Positive Stories of Impactful People Who Have Helped Pivot My Life, a heartfelt collection celebrating the mentors, friends, family members, and unexpected encounters that shaped her journey.

An award-winning career strategist, entrepreneur, speaker, and author, Laurie has devoted her life's work to helping people recognize their unique value and pursue careers and lives filled with purpose.

For more than four decades, Laurie has guided thousands of professionals through career transitions, personal branding, LinkedIn strategy, interview preparation, and executive coaching. In 1986, she founded Just Your Type, Inc., building one of the nation's pioneering résumé writing and career coaching firms.

Laurie also co-founded the Professional Résumé Writing and Research Association (PRWRA), serving as its first president and helping establish international standards for the career services profession. Under her leadership, the organization expanded into 19 countries before evolving into Career Directors International (CDI). In recognition of her lasting impact on the profession, she received CDI's prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award. She has also been honored by the International Association of Top Professionals (IAOTP) as a Top Master Career Director, a Top 50 Fearless Leader, and Empowered Woman of the Year.

A proud Louisiana native, Laurie believes that one conversation can change a career—and one act of encouragement can change a life. Whether through her writing, speaking, or coaching, she hopes to inspire others to recognize the extraordinary impact ordinary people can have on one another.

When she isn't writing or coaching, Laurie enjoys traveling with her husband, cheering on the Ragin' Cajuns, attending theatre productions, and embracing the vibrant culture of south Louisiana.

Her life is guided by faith, gratitude, and the words of Victor Hugo: "To love another person is to see the face of God."

Her greatest hope is that every reader will close About Faces looking at the people in their own lives with greater gratitude—and perhaps become an "about face" in someone else's story.
