Before dedicating herself to the study of yoga and meditation, Lara Sanderson spent over fifteen years leading initiatives in nonprofit organizations, private industry, and political campaigns. Her work spanned research, communications, fundraising, and government relations—always with a focus on community well-being and systemic change. In 2006, Lara was selected as an American Marshall Memorial Fellow, traveling across Europe to deepen her understanding of transatlantic relations and foster new collaborations in education and civic life. Alongside her husband Jeff, she has invested in social ventures rooted in food, housing, and the arts. Lara’s volunteer work has included tutoring girls in underserved Seattle neighborhoods and teaching poetry to unhoused communities. But it was in 2011—after the loss of her only sister—that Lara experienced a profound spiritual awakening. Grief and insight converged, leading her to leave conventional success behind and devote herself fully to contemplative practice. Today, Lara writes from the quiet center of that journey. Her work explores the intersection of inner transformation and collective healing, inviting readers to reclaim their inherent power and cultivate peace. She believes that when individuals awaken, communities can too. Her current writing projects reflect a shift from private devotion to public offering—sharing the wisdom gathered through years of meditation, grief, and spiritual inquiry.
