Lama Muhammad, MD, is a Syrian-American novelist, human rights activist, and psychiatrist board-certified in multiple medical specialties. She has written eleven books, including Braids of Forbidden Trinity, a novel that changed how many readers understand the conflicts of the Middle East. She publishes in Arabic under the name لمى محمد.

On her website, she introduces herself this way:

"I introduce myself and speak with you as a human being. I do not judge you by religion, color, gender, or nationality. What I care about is whether you use your mind. When your own interest knocks at the door, does the voice of those you love still beat in your heart? If so, is there a small place for me and my words among the crowd of your companions?

My name is Lama. In Arabic it means the gentle wind, the breeze. Titles mean nothing to me.

I believe in love and in humanity, in our ability to start from zero, again and again. We are all the same; only two things set us apart: how we treat others, and what we dream of.

Medicine is my profession. Writing is my sanctuary, and my way of trying to contribute to a better tomorrow."
