Kevin Algar is a self employed gardener with formal qualifications in horticulture and a lifelong connection to the landscapes of East Anglia. His work with plants and the natural world sits at the heart of his writing, where history, nature and poetry often meet. Alongside his gardening life, Kevin has spent many years studying botany, local history, theology and poetry, drawing on these interests to explore the stories, saints and heritage of Suffolk. His curiosity has taken him from ancient paths to lost villages, quiet valleys and historic churches, many of which appear throughout his work. Kevin has also been involved in political activism, guided by a strong interest in community, tradition and the preservation of local culture. He runs an East Anglian church history website, where he shares research and reflections on the region’s spiritual and historical legacy. His writing celebrates the landscapes that shaped him, from the cliffs of Covehithe and the marshes of Blythburgh to the lanes, rivers and ancient sites of Suffolk. Through poetry and narrative, he captures the beauty and depth of place, weaving together faith, memory and local lore in a way that speaks to both heritage and home.
