Kelly Vero was born in Nottingham in 1973 and has spent most of her career making things up — first for video games, then novels, and occasionally while explaining technology to people.
After working in music and television, she spent more than 30 years in the games and technology industries, working on titles including Tomb Raider, Transformers and Candy Crush. Somewhere along the way she also became an author, technologist and founder.
Kelly writes across an increasingly unreasonable number of genres. Her fiction includes crime and speculative fiction, while her non-fiction explores video games, artificial intelligence, technology and the people who build it. Some of her fiction is also being developed for television.
Her writing career arguably began much earlier, when she won the Lord Mayor's Award for a poem about ghosts. She has been finding increasingly elaborate ways to write about strange people, strange technology and terrible decisions ever since.
Kelly now lives in Switzerland. She loves travelling, Pilates and animals, and has so far shared her life with ten rabbits. She writes.. A LOT — and is currently threatening to add romantasy to the list of genres.
