KAUAKANILEHUA MĀHOE ADAMS is a Kanaka Maoli/Native Hawaiian, Asian, and White author and poet originally from Seattle, Washington. She earned her Master of Fine Arts in Writing for Children and Young Adults from Vermont College of Fine Arts. BRAVING THE STORM, her short story in verse, appears in Cynthia Leitch Smith's YA anthology, LEGENDARY FRYBREAD DRIVE-IN. AN EXPANSE OF BLUE (Heartdrum/HarperCollins), set for publication in Summer 2026, is her debut verse novel for young adults. Kaua lives in Carlsbad, California with her partner where she spends her time writing, reading, daydreaming, dancing hula, and bending to her dogs’ every wish and whim.
