When I was five years old, I discovered a simplified children’s version of The Black Stallion in my school library, and the words on those pages filled me with intense curiosity, joy, and connection to a boy and his horse, lost on an island together. That story unlocked my imagination and set a fire in me that has never been quenched. Stories have power. Throughout my childhood and teen years, the books I read and the stories I imagined carried me through battles with OCD, depression, and intense shyness and anxiety. I wrapped myself in stories of courage, resilience, and bravery like a warm blanket, and eventually, the stories gave me the strength to step outside my fears. Stories were more than friends to me—they were lifelines. Now, I write fantasy and sci fi filled with strong, resilient heroines, swoon-worthy love interests, found families, and fantastic worlds.
