Julie Hodgson is a British author who has called sunny Portugal home for more than twenty years. She writes emotionally driven fiction, including contemporary women's fiction, psychological suspense, historical fiction, romance and heart-warming children's stories. Her novels explore hope, resilience, family and the extraordinary strength found in ordinary people, blending heartfelt emotion with adventure, humour and those everyday moments that can become something truly magical. Between 1980 and 2001, Julie lived in Libya, Kuwait, Malta, Sweden and Malaysia. While living in Kuwait, she worked as a correspondent for The Times, writing three columns each week in the years leading up to the first Gulf War. During her time in Libya, where English books were banned under Gaddafi's regime, she quietly wrote stories in English and shared them secretly through local book groups, believing that stories have the power to connect people, even in the most challenging circumstances. Fluent in English, Swedish and Portuguese, Julie has a lifelong fascination with different cultures and the stories they tell. Those years gave her a wealth of memories, inspiring settings and remarkable experiences that continue to shape the worlds and characters within her fiction. Her work has received recognition through several literary awards, including Readers' Favourite, the New Apple Book Awards and the IndieBRAG Medallion. She has been published both traditionally and independently. Alongside her fiction, Julie is proud to be part of the Norris Charity writing team in Norway, creating stories that encourage kindness, imagination and a lifelong love of reading. When she is not writing, Julie can usually be found with her nose in a book, happily reading almost anything with a cover. She also enjoys writing poetry for her blog, exploring the beautiful Portuguese countryside and visiting her family in Norway and Sweden. Their love and encouragement keep her imagination buzzing and often inspire her next story. Julie believes stories can cross borders, outlast difficult times and remind us that even the most ordinary lives can hold extraordinary moments. Stay safe and creative out there....
