Jon Balserak's research interests focus on the Renaissance and Early Modern period, especially: the Reformations in France and Geneva, John Calvin, Theodore Beza, and Calvinism, dissimulation and lying, the history of prophecy, Vetus Latina (Old Latin), and Medieval and Early Modern interpretation of the Bible. Balserak received his PhD from University of Edinburgh (2002) and worked at University of Birmingham (2002-2008) and University of Bristol (2008-2024). He is now Senior Research Fellow at University of Bristol and Visiting Lecturer at University of Illinois Chicago.
