John Sheirer (pronounced “shy-er”) lives in Northampton, Massachusetts, with his wonderful wife, Betsy, and happy dog, Libby. He has taught writing and communications for 30 years at Asnuntuck Community College in Enfield, Connecticut, where he also serves as editor and faculty advisor for Freshwater Literary Journal. He writes a monthly column on current events for his hometown newspaper, the Daily Hampshire Gazette, and his books include memoir, fiction, poetry, essays, political satire, and photography. His most recent books include Stumbling Through Adulthood, a collection of linked short stories; Too Wild, a collection of flash fiction; Corrections, a fictional thriller about a man who teaches in prison; Positively Toward the Negative, a collection of newspaper columns from 2016 to 2020; and Fever Cabin, a fictionalized journal of a man isolating himself during the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic. (All proceeds from Fever Cabin benefit pandemic-related charities.) His awards include recognition by the Next Generation Indie Book Awards, National Indie Excellence Awards, Outstanding Creator Awards, International Book Awards, Eric Hoffer Book Awards, Sante Fe Writers Project Literary Awards, Firebird Book Awards, Pinnacle Book Achievement Awards, Literary Titan Awards, Connecticut Green Circle Awards, and New England Book Festival Awards.
