John McKay was born Wigan, UK, where he lives with his wife, Dawn. He has two daughters Jessica and Sophie. John recently won the Aspects of History Unpublished Historical Novel Award for his novel, 'The Worst Journey In The World'. The book has now been re-edited and published by Sharpe Books under the new title, 'Hell and High Water' which is currently available for Kindle. The paperback will follow in January 2023. In 2019 he became a USA Today Bestselling author after contributing a short story, 'V for Victory' to the anthology 'The Darkest Hour - Tales of WW2 Resistance.' His other historical fiction work are now going through a series of edits and he is hoping to release them again in the near future. In a break from historical fiction his novel, 'Mosquitoes', is a contemporary study of how the pressures of modern society, both external and self-induced can affect a persons mental health. A black comedy, 'Mosquitoes' is a uniquely written story, told in the first person as the protagonist struggles to accept the situation fate has given him. He cites his modern literary favourites as Sebastian Faulkes, Damien Lewis and Robert Harris.
