After a career as a start-up entrepreneur in New York City and some other cities, my wife and I bought a home in Savannah, Georgia about 10-years ago. That led to me purchasing an abandoned Greyhound Bus station in Historic Savannah in which, with my business partner, Mashama Bailey, we built and launched a restaurant called The Grey in 2014. Since then, Mashama and I have been on an incredibly interesting journey not only to do with food, but one that is really rooted in race, class and culture and focuses on self-exploration, discovery and the growth of our seemingly unlikely partnership. Our book, Black, White and The Grey is the telling of the first few years of that journey. When not helping to run and grow The Grey, I try to spend as much time as possible with my wife, Carol, and my two dogs--Otter and Anchovy.
