When John Keane left the Marine Corps after Vietnam, he had what he thought was a simple goal. To find meaningful work that would make the world a little better than it was had he not been in it. There were no illusions of grandeur, just a drive to live a meaningful life of purpose. As with most of life's paths, it was a crooked road he traveled. He decided to do something that no one had ever done. John became the country's first and only pet detective. It was the very fulfillment of the goal he had set out a decade before. He became Sherlock Bones "Tracer of Missing pets." Since then, John has learned his craft and learned it well. As a result, he has been featured in Time, Cosmopolitan, Family Circle, Readers Digest, to name a few. Sherlock Bones has made the front page in The Wall Street Journal on several occasions. John was interviewed by Jane Pauley on the Today Show and made multiple appearances on the Tonight Show. Most importantly, all this attention allowed John to reach his goal and help thousands of people coast-to-coast and around the world find their lost and stolen pets.
