About the author For as long as she can remember, writing has been a major part of Joanne’s life. Even at the age of twelve, she came up with one-page stories she patiently typed out on a classic typewriter, entertaining mostly friends and family. After years of writing and publishing short stories online in Dutch and English, real life took over and she stopped writing for a long period. In 2015, Joanne decided to jumpstart her old passion once more. She won a national short story competition, resulting in the publication of her first Young Adult. Since then, she has published four Young Adults (one series) and two paranormal thrillers in Belgium and the Netherlands. Joanne was also shortlisted for a children’s book for a national writing competition, where she ended in the top five out of more than sixty manuscripts. Over the years, Joanne has published a number of English short stories online. ‘Heart-Beat’ is her first international novel and a dream come true. It is also her most personal story so far. Currently, Joanne is working on a new Young Adult-thriller as part of a Young Adult-series, which is slated to be published in the Spring of 2018. She is also working on a new psychological thriller.
