Jo Simmons

Jo Simmons

Jo writes funny books for kids and is the author of the best-selling I Swapped My Brother on the Internet. It was shortlisted for the Lollies 2020 (see ace illustrator Nathan and Jo at the awards in the photo, right) and was one of Tom Fletcher's 2018 picks for his WHSmith Book Club (pics of this, too). My Parents Cancelled My Birthday and I Stole My Genius Sister's Brain followed, all with Nathan’s awesome illustrations, and all full of the weird characters and extremely silly situations that Jo finds funny. Jo began her working life as a magazine journalist. She was inspired to write funny fiction when her two sons were young, and found everything from jam to Tuesdays hilarious. Four Pip Street stories followed and the first one in this series, A Whiskery Mystery, was longlisted for the Waterstones Prize. Jo grew up in the New Forest surrounded by ponies and cows, and now lives in Brighton with her family and a small, scruffy dog who leaves hair on the sofa. Her favourite food is toast.
