Jessica Francis Kane is the author of the national bestseller RULES FOR VISITING, which was a finalist for the Bollinger Everyman Wodehouse Prize, long-listed for the Joyce Carol Oates Prize, and named one of Oprah’s Best Books of the Year. Her story collection, THIS CLOSE, was an NPR Best Book of the Year and long-listed for The Story Prize, and her debut novel, THE REPORT, was a finalist for The Center for Fiction First Novel Prize. Her third novel, FONSECA, was named one of the 10 Best Historical Fiction Books of 2025 by the New York Times. Kane's stories and essays have appeared in many publications, including Harper’s, the New York Times, Slate, McSweeney’s, and Granta. She lives in New York City with her husband and children.
