Jess Barber can be found flitting sporadically between Boston and Los Angeles, though she originally hails from the mountains of northeast Tennessee. She is a graduate of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, where she studied physics and electrical engineering, and the Clarion Writers' Workshop, which involved less math but just as much sleep deprivation. Her short fiction has appeared in publications such as Clarkesworld, Lightspeed, and The Year's Best Science Fiction, and has been long listed for the Hugo Award.
