Jeremy W. Peters is a correspondent for The New York Times, where he has written about the last three presidential elections. His coverage has focused on how forces in media, culture and religion are reshaping American politics. After reporting on the 2016 race and Donald Trump's surprise victory, he was assigned to cover the shotgun marriage between the new president and the Republican Party. That led to the work that would form the basis of his first book, "Insurgency." His interest in journalism was sparked as a teenager when he started writing film reviews for his high school newspaper. His first article for The Times was published when he was a student at the University of Michigan.
