Jeremy D. Popkin, William T. Bryan chair professor of history at the University of Kentucky, has written numerous books on the history of the French and Haitian Revolutions, including _The First Emancipation: The Forgotten History of Abolition in Revolutionary France_ (2026), _A New World Begins: The History of the French Revolution_ (2019), and _You Are All Free: The Haitian Revolution and the Abolition of Slavery_ (2010). He has also written several books about historiography: _From Herodotus to H-Net_ (2nd ed., 2021) and _History, Historians and Autobiography_ (2005), as well as a biography of his grandmother, _Zelda Popkin: The Life and Times of an American Jewish Woman Writer_ (2023). He lives in Lexington, Kentucky.
