Jene Roswell has been a lover and connoisseur of all types of music for over 50 years, and it has had an incredible impact on his life. In his younger years, Jene listened to and practiced music for sheer pleasure, learning to play the guitar. As a professional Dance Teacher, Jene taught various styles including ballroom, Latin, jazz ballet, and rock ‘n roll, among others. Learning about rhythm, beat, and different music genres, was essential to Jene’s success in his career. During the 70s & 80s, an increasing variety of different genres were being introduced to the music scene in Australia. At the time, Jene pursued a passion for dancing and playing music, entering every dance competition he could, with a special focus on the genres disco, pop, and R&B. This music had the ability to transport the author back in time to the excitement and innocence of youth. Jene has lived in several countries around the world and has witnessed how music can have a positive impact on people in times of hardship. Although most people did not have many material possessions at the time, they had a wealth of culture and music all around them, which provided them, and the author, a life of passion and abundance. During his travels, the author started his own business, which was premised on the use of music as a fundamental element in helping people relax and unwind. Jene focused on using music to facilitate a magical environment for his clients, offering them a chance to be transported to a different dimension. Over the past decade, the author has become a professional educator, using music as a tool to assist students with memory and learning. Resonance and frequencies in music have been proven to stimulate the brain and assist with memory retention. Although an earlier myth suggested that listening to Mozart while studying assisted with learning, recent studies have proven that any type of music can help one study better. As Jene got older, he began to look into the deeper meanings of songs and started paying careful attention to the words and tune of each composition. The author started looking more deeply into the stories of the various leaders from each music genre, to see if there was any connection between their life’s journey, the quality of their music, and the impact on their audience. Since then, the author’s experience of music has been deepened, becoming aware of both the person, their artistry, and the inspiration that led them to produce such creative work. Many of these gifted and beautiful icons are giving back to their communities in their own quiet way, without fanfare. The true artistry and leadership that they have demonstrated in their chosen field shines through in their character and their values.
