Jen is a former public educator with 25 years experience teaching primarily alternative education at the high school level. In 2021, Jen shifted her focus to the entertainment industry. As a life-long learner, she learns as much about the industry as she can by taking classes, listening to podcasts, and working in warehouses and other venues. During the spring of 2024 she and her husband started Rugged Training Group providing training to folks in the entertainment industry and beyond. Jen has always been passionate about safety in all its forms, but while she was teaching safety it became clear that good teaching wouldn't be enough. What was needed was leadership development to create a company culture that prioritizes safety. Working with other educators and industry leaders, they built an entire leadership series specific for the trades, including 3 levels of leadership across 9 popular topics. Each course is designed to provide the participant with concrete steps for implementation and clear takeaways so they can practice their new skills immediately. In her new book Uncorporate Leadership, Jen highlights the importance of leadership to promote safety in the trades. From how it’s always been done all the way to companies that are actually doing the work, this book explains what it takes to improve leadership and save lives in the trades.
